FAQ

Can I apply if I graduated from a university outside of Israel?

Yes, applicants from international institutions are welcome to apply, provided they meet the academic and language requirements.

What are the academic requirements for international applicants?

You must hold a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in Political Science or a related field from a recognized institution. Ideally, your GPA should be 90 or above. If your transcript uses a different grading system, an official grade conversion might be needed. In cases of a GPA slightly lower than 90, please contact the head of the program.

Do I need to prove my proficiency in English or Hebrew?

If your previous study was not conducted in English or Hebrew, you may be required to demonstrate language proficiency. The admissions committee will evaluate your application and determine if additional proof of language skills is necessary.

Who should I contact if I am unsure about my eligibility?

If you are uncertain about your eligibility, please feel free to speak to the department of Political  Science’s admissions office for guidance on your specific case.

Who is eligible to apply for the program?

The program is open to outstanding students with a bachelor’s degree in Political Science or related fields, ideally with a GPA of 90 or above. Applicants without a Political Science background may still apply and, if accepted, may be required to complete a tailored preparatory program.

Do I need to take a standardized test (such as GRE or GMAT)?

No, the program does not require standardized test scores. However, applicants may be required to complete a preparatory course if they lack a background in Political Science.

Can I apply if I already hold a master’s degree?

In principle, yes, candidates who already hold a master’s degree may apply. However, all students in the program are required to complete a master’s thesis before transitioning to the doctoral stage, and most students in the program do not yet hold a master’s degree. Those who have already completed a master’s degree may be eligible for credit transfer for some of their coursework, but they will still be required to complete a significant number of courses as well as a thesis.

What are the career prospects after completing the program?

Graduates are well-positioned for academic careers in universities and research institutions. Additionally, they can pursue roles in government agencies, think tanks, international organizations, and policy analysis sectors.

Can I defer my admission if I am accepted?

Deferrals are considered on a case-by-case basis but are generally not granted.
